One poor decision will haunt her forever.

Macy Mercer only wants a little independence. Eager to prove herself grown up, she goes to a dark, secluded park. She's supposed to meet the boy of her dreams who she met online. But the cute fifteen year old was a fantasy, his pictures fake. She finds herself face to face with Chester Woodran, a man capable of murder.

Under duress from his constant threats and mind games, her hold on reality starts to slip. Clinging to her memories is the only way of holding onto her true identity, not believing that she is Chester's daughter. Otherwise she may never see her family again.

The ending was the worst I have ever read! Such a disappointment.

KC4365

Beware...this is a cliffhanger

Quit reading when I realized it was a cliffhanger and I would have to buy the other 2 books in the trilogy to get the ending of the story. Not worth the money or the time to read two more books for an ending to this story. I was not that involved with the characters...Macy seemed kind of stupid, the dad was a jerk, very self-absorbed, and the mom wasn’t very like able either. I think it should be said up front, in the summary, when a book is going to not have an ending. Very frustrating and misleading to not let the reader/purchaser know before getting the book!

Intense

Gone is the first book in the Gone series by Stacy Claflin. I’m a fan of the Alex Mercer series. I wanted to read this to get more background on Alex and Zoey’s relationship and to learn about what happened to his sister, Macy. Teenage Macy plans to rendezvous with a boy she met online. Things do not go as planned and Macy is kidnapped. The story tells about Macy’s ordeal and the effect her kidnapping has on her family and best friend. It is intense and well-written. I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

moviewatcher22

Not Great

The writing style was bland, and the narration from a teenaged girl’s POV was forced at best. Also frustrating to find out that the book does not resolve at the end. Didn’t bother finishing because after 43% of the book, I still didn’t care about what happened to the main character, so there’s no way I’m going through another two books after this one to find the conclusion. 🙄

Gone

This was a suspenseful read. It hopefully will be read by more young people. This is what our world seems to be today. I do want to read more, so you did a great job with the ending of this book. Thanks for a great read.

DO NOT READ

This book is so poorly written. Everyone in the book are such horrific characters that it’s really hard to empathize with anyone. The book had problematic messaging which can be perceived as damaging. The author did not include an ending, just a cliffhanger, so you are forced to buy the second and third. This monstrosity doesn’t even deserve a star. I wish I never read it.

I thought this book was actually pretty good. At first I didn’t know wether or not to get it sense I don’t rlly read mystery and thrillers but it was rlly good I had to get used to the writing style at first and then I rlly got into it all the shocking twist and turns and poor Alyssa and Macy. I defiantly would recommend. I think I might actually get the second book

Great!

So I’m an 18 year old that has never enjoyed reading. I recently started and out of state job that involves me sitting around a lot. I decided to get a free book to try to pass time. I wanted a free one because I didn’t expect to actually go through with it. I found myself reading roughly 100 pages a night! The book is a fantastic read and I highly recommend it. It stops kind of abruptly and you do not get to know what happens. With that being said, you will have to buy the following books in the series, but for 4 dollars I think it is worth it!

Annmric8

This is NOT a psychological thriller

When a child predator chooses Macy online because she looks like his daughter, Macy clings to memories of her true identity to help her through this horrible ordeal. Macy was mislead by this guy online, ignoring all the safety talks her parents had with her regarding dating and sharing personal information. Her family deals with their own secrets while she is gone reflecting on the choices they made. Overall: Not every book is for every reader, sometimes an author writes a book that doesn’t work for a reader...this was that book for me. I didn’t technically not DNF this book, but I did skim this book...however I didn’t read it in its entirety. This was a chore to read. It was a long arduous journey. Very little progression occurred between characters. Being a character driven story the issues surrounding these characters didn’t help find their daughter. In fact, very little detective or investigative work took place. Life just carried on. I felt the story was stagnant moving at a snails pace. The drive itself too forever dragging out the scenes of her sleeping and complaining about the food he gifted her. Macy did very little to survive this situation other than concede to his wishes. I was confused by this captures behavior towards Macy considering he took her to replace his daughter. I was disappointed with her father’s attitude as if he couldn’t be bothered by her daughters actions for running away because it was infringing upon his time working on his online blog. The mother was a scattered brain mess of actions. Basically, running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Macy annoyed me with her stubbornness over her capturers insensitivity to her vegan diet. He’s not your friend he’s an abductor. Every character was self absorbed, hung up on their own issues, failing to find their daughter. I had the sense this author did very little research on the topics of Stockholm syndrome, abductors, and psychological abuse. Macy was abducted and all she kept worrying about were insignificant things like clothes, makeup, and her vegan diet for losing weight. I felt like this entire ordeal was a hard lesson against Macy’s parents for being too strict and inattentive towards her.

Amateurish

This novel is extremely amateurish. The only semi-interesting parts of the book were concerning Macy/Heather and Chester, and even most of those chapters were boring. The other characters in the novel from her parents, the mistress, her brother, her best friend, and Heather’s grandparents brought absolutely nothing to the story. Their characters were poorly written and not like-able. They were actually annoying and came off as dumb. They appear to have been added simply to make the story last longer. I definitely won’t be reading the other two books in the series.

Intriguing But Might Not Buy the Next

I have never written a review but o feel as though this one merits one. At first, I thought it was just a slow beginning to the story like many books and series do. They start slowly and kinda boring to create the characters and get you to relate or at least care about them. But then I noticed that there were typos and grammatical errors? And I though ok... big loss for me. I’m not proof reading an essay, I’m reading on my spare time. The your vs you’re issue should not be a problem for an author writing trilogies. I’m sorry to be rude but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also was skipping through pages and skimming because it sometimes felt so.. basic. I began to realize that all the characters had the same voice. So adults and kids sounded the same. The characters might not have been developed enough to have their own linguistic pattern so they all thought in similar ways. Yes the book had plot twists BUT the errors were distracting and the characters seemed cliche and seemed not to react to situations realistically. I read until the end to see how Macy would get out but that’s not a part of this book... or apparently the next one (Held).

Awesome Book

I love the story, but there’s a reason I rated 3 and not 5. 2 to be exact, they both deduct points. 1, it’s to short, I can read it to fast, and the other books cost money, the money that I don’t have. 2 The part with Macy’s REAL family is to short. I’d love to have a book about their perspective, not just have it in a short part. Like, if you do my idea, make it a series. Not just 1 book, 1 for the 3 books (I think). AND make the first one free, and, if you don’t want to, don’t give credit to me. I wish someone could gift me the 2 books that involve Macy (the 2 OTHER) but that isn’t happening.

Wow!, what a page turning story. I love how Stacy portrays Macy as the unwanted, unwelcome girl at school the outcast. How Macy’s family life is just as a-lot of teen girls see their own. I recommend this book to any parent or caregiver.

Under duress from his constant threats and mind games, her hold on reality starts to slip. Clinging to her memories is the only way of holding onto her true identity, not believing that she is Chester's daughter. Otherwise she may never see her family again.

Gone is the first novel in the Gone saga, a trilogy of psychological suspense thrillers. If you enjoy page turning suspense with constant twists and turns, then you'll love this nail-biting read.

Writing geared to juevenile audience,

So sorry, I bought this book. Waste of time for adult readers.

Gone

Good

Everyone from ages 12-17 should read. Not only is it a good book it shows you can’t trust people online. 👏👏👏

So realistic

Great choice of word because I felt like as I read the book I was watching it too. Things like this really happen in the world

Gone

This was an amazing book,I could not put it down...the writing was great and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Thank you and on to the next book in the series.

I’ve come to get emerged in this series. Keep them coming.👌

Very interesting

I thought this book was actually pretty good. At first I didn’t know wether or not to get it sense I don’t rlly read mystery and thrillers but it was rlly good I had to get used to the writing style at first and then I rlly got into it all the shocking twist and turns and poor Alyssa and Macy. I defiantly would recommend. I think I might actually get the second book

nickname5452316

Gone

Deep dive into pathology around a series of dysfunctional, but maybe all too typical, relationships and the kidnapping of a 15 year old girl. The story is not resolved within this book and requires reading on ... .

Wasn’t the best

Really wasn’t one of the best books. Somewhat amateur like. Ending you have to pay for to continue reading. Don’t read it unless you are ready to pay 4 bucks for the other book

Gone

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I was reading it only on my lunch hour and I found myself wanting lunch to get here so I could read more. I was sad when the book ended, but now onto Held!

It’s great if you read the other books

I have read all the books in the series and they are great! You need to read them all though so the story makes sense. This series is a page turner and on the last book I read, I read it all in one night because I couldnt put it down!!

Leaves you wanting more!

Good characters, suspenseful story. Can’t wait to read the next book.

Incredibly stupid! There is no conclusion; the writer just stops writing. It receives one star only because it would not send with zero stars.

Slow

The book was slow and got repetitive. Even boring at times, lets hope the others pick up.

Good

This was a great book and kept me interested. The ending was absolutely horrible. It was like the author just stopped writing! It’s really too bad because I would have purchased the next book, but there wasn’t any closure or anything solved

$&@":?!

One star

I am extremely surprised this book is rated as high as it is. This is the most amature writer. The book is repetitive and I am amazed someone would make an ending like that. I pushed myself to read through nonsense just to get to the end just to find out I have to read an entire other book. Not even for free. I do not recommend.

I wish someone could gift me the 2 books that involve Macy (the 2 OTHER) but that isn’t happening.

sexikaykay

Ok read

I like it but very slow took me 3 months to read. I usually take only a week if it is a really good book. I think it was to many character point of views she just needed to keep with the one character I feel. I really don’t know if I want to to read the second one if it’s going to be like the first. Overall it was ok

Gotitall47

Chilling with some tears

OMG from the first page I was hooked. Every character had their own role and the author made sure we knew who everyone was with out going on a random tangent. Every chapter made sense and it flowed so well I could not put my phone down. Now I have to buy the other because I need to know what happens to the “daughter”

Waytomany ADDS!

Wish the second book was free!

Sehr Gut!

Ok

The language is cliched and unnatural making many of the characters unbelievable. However, there is a suspenseful storyline that holds your interest.

Gone

Some will see themselves at certain ages. The sweetest, saddest, joyful moments of life with our families. Gone should be read by both parents and children with today's addiction to social media. A story of how both should remain vigilant for their safety, yet a captivating story instead for a lecture.

Annomonity

GONE!!

Wow!, what a page turning story. I love how Stacy portrays Macy as the unwanted, unwelcome girl at school the outcast. How Macy’s family life is just as a-lot of teen girls see their own. Sadly online predators are there and not just after girls but boys too. We need to teach our kids too be careful online sites. Watch for anything auspicious or strange/unusual. I recommend this book to any parent or caregiver.

Depressing

If you like depressing, no point in telling the story, you will like this book. I can't understand the value of a plot that simply shows the terror one man brings to a young girl and her grieving family. No redeeming values, it just continues to be sickening and depressing. I won't read the follow up books as I doubt this writer has a feel good bone in her body.
